In order to deploy a fiber network on existing poles, Yates Engineering services will come out and conduct a field survey of each pole in the network. Not only does this process verify the location and attachment heights of all cable and hardware, it ensures that the pole loading is not exceeded with the addition of fiber optic cable and strand. This process ensures that poles are deployed under NESC rules and that all foreign contacts are accounted for at the proper clearances. At the end of this process, each power company receives an annotated photo of each pole in their network, making infrastructure decisions and planning easy. This data is then used to determine the height and path of the fiber optic cable.
